I have been teaching for 14 years and a Maths leader for 10 at a primary school in Redcar and Cleveland. I am committed to ensuring that Lockwood remains a happy place to be by working collaboratively with staff, children, families and the governing body.

I am very proud to be staff governor at Lockwood where I have worked for almost 24 years. During this time, I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching across Key Stage 2, predominantly in Year 5, where I lead English, Art and Mental Health and Wellbeing across the school. I feel passionate about leading, creating and facilitating memorable and meaningful learning experiences for all pupils. I believe that a rich, broad and exciting curriculum alongside enriching experiences for our children will help foster a life-long love of learning. Alongside my curriculum specialism, I lead our Headstart Hub wellbeing team and I am currently working towards the qualification of Mental Health First Aider so that I could effectively support our pupils, families and staff.
I have two teenage daughters, a husband and a dog who keep me on my toes! In our spare time, we love to travel around the UK finding beautiful walks and enjoying a cake at a coffee shop or two! Whilst my children were in primary school, I was also a parent governor for seven years during which I had the opportunity to further develop my skills as governor, from an alternative perspective. I am deeply committed to Lockwood: the pupils, staff, families and the whole school community and thoroughly appreciate the trust and responsibility that is given to me through my role as co-opted governor.

I joined the governing body of Lockwood School in 2021 because I have a strong interest in both the school and wider community in Boosbeck. As a resident of the village for a number of years, I have had 5 children taught at the school and seen first-hand the challenges in education provision over this time and felt I had some attributes that may assist the school in delivering these.
My professional background is in business management, I am a director of a national crematoria company and have worked at board level for many years being a specialist in developing new businesses, sales and marketing and change management.
I joined the Governing Body of Lockwood in autumn 2022. I was in primary education for the whole of my career which stretched for 37 years.
In 2008 I became a head teacher at a school in Redcar and Cleveland. I thoroughly enjoyed working with staff, parents and children and was particularly proud of shaping the family ethos that made the school such a special place.
My professional experience has given me a good insight into the role of governor which is crucial to the success of a school. I would like to provide challenge and support so the school can be the best it can be. I firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to attend a school that offers them a creative and balanced curriculum, develops their understanding of the world around them and, most important of all, makes them believe in themselves as learners.
Though now retired, I continue to have a keen interest in primary education and I hope that my experience can contribute to helping the school further develop.
Hello my name is Eilidh Mietelska and I am a co-opted governor at Lockwood Primary School.
I also have two children who attend the school and are very happy.
I applied to be a governor because I am passionate about children having the best start in life and positive school experiences really support this. I have worked with children and families for 20 years and currently work at a Local Authority. I am passionate about SEND and inclusion and I am real advocate for trauma informed/relational practice in schools.
